GP racer Clement Desalle will compete in the Colorado AMA National MX.

Belgian GP star Clement Desalle will compete at the Colorado National MX Saturday.

Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos, of the Rockstar Energy Suzuki Team, will compete in Saturday’s second round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Colorado.

The two Belgians are using a break in the FIM Motocross World Championship to attend and race in the Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood.

Both Desalle and Strijbos are in title contention in the MX1 division, with Desalle currently holding down third and Strijbos fourth.

Desalle, however, is no stranger to the AMA Championship and has to be considered a threat to win. He’s ridden in two Nationals, once in 2009 at Washougal where he finished third in one of the 450 motos, and once in 2010 at Washougal, where he finished second overall after battling series champion Ryan Villopoto.

Dasalle has also competed at Thunder Valley as a member of Team Belgium at the Motocross of Nations, where he finished third behind Ryan Dungey and Andrew Short in the final moto.

For the 27-year-old Strijbos, who has finished second in the World, this will his first time competing in an AMA National.

The Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National will feature all four motos live, as NBC Sports Network will air the first set of motos live beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern. The live coverage will continue on FUEL TV for the second motos, beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern. All four motos will also have live streaming coverage.
