The AMA D-37 Big 6 Grand Prix Series kicked off its eight-round season with the 11th Annual Taft Grand Prix, presented by the Dirt Diggers Motorcycle Club, at Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft, California, February 2-3.

In the featured AMA West Coast Grand Prix Series Pro race on Saturday, Tim Weigand topped Johnny Campbell Racing Honda teammate Colton Udall for the win, while Motorcycle Superstore Yamaha-mounted Gary Sutherlin grabbed third.

The weekend wrapped up with the combined Heavyweight and Lightweight races which saw JCR Honda-supported Evan Kelly rebound from a slightly off day to take the overall and Heavyweight Expert victory.

In all, more than 900 entries filled a weekend noted for perfect conditions around the eight-mile course set in the rolling hills and oil fields just outside of the Central California town.
