Press Release | January 22, 2013
Riders on Maxxcross tires topped podiums in major series this weekend, with a double-win for Tyler Bowers in the AMSOIL Arenacross series and a WORCS Pro 2 victory for Eric Yorba. Rounds 5 and 6 of the AMSOIL Arenacross series were held January 18-19 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and WORCS’ season kick-off was held January 18-20 in Peoria, Arizona.
In the first race of Round 5, Bowers took the lead by the end of the first lap and held it through to the finish line. In the second race, he made steady progress from a fifth-place start to take the win. Bowers’ Babbitt’s presented by Maxxis teammate Zach Ames finished fourth for the night.
At Round 6, Bowers took the holeshot and a commanding lead to win the first race. He managed to take the holeshot in the second race from a more challenging outside position, and again took first place, earning his ninth race win to date. Bowers’ twin overall victories increased his points lead to 35 for a total of 186, with Ames in second place with 151 points.
The WORCS motorcycle opener also brought good news for Maxxis, with a Pro 2 victory for RPM Racing Team’s Eric Yorba. Teammate Ty Tremaine joined Yorba on the Pro 2 podium in third place after jumping out front for the Pro/Pro 2 holeshot at the start of the race. Steven Gibson, also sponsored by Maxxis, won the Pro 2 Lights class. Ryan Abbatoye took fifth in the Pro class, while RPM Racing’s Justin Jones took sixth. In Women Pro, defending class champion Tatum Sik took second place.
Maxxis congratulates Tyler Bowers, Eric Yorba and Steven Gibson on their victories and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
