Weimer Wins Night One Of Bercy Supercross

Jake Weimer won tonight’s first of three Bercy Supercross finals in France, the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider riding a faultless race and holding off GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac in the 15-lap final. Justin Brayton finished third on the JGR Yamaha.
“First night and first overall; I can’t ask for more than that,” Weimer said. “I got some good starts and that’s important when the racing is this tight. I kept telling myself the whole time that I couldn’t make any mistakes. The whole day Eli [Tomac] and I have been within a tenth of a second of each other. I had to make smooth clean laps and I knew he wouldn’t be able to get around me.
“I’d like to win all three, but to come out as the King [of Bercy] you have to be consistent across all three nights because it’s easy to throw one away, which is what I did last year. You have to stay out of trouble.”
Weimer says the French Supercross track is proving to be difficult.
“This track is really difficult,” Weimer said. “In the U.S. our Supercross tracks are bigger so to come here it feels like the bikes have so much power in such a tight space. It is tricky over 15 laps because you have to be careful and so precise. It is challenging but it was fun. I had a good time last year and that’s why I’m back this time.”
With Brayton rounding out the podium, it was Kyle Chisholm and Cedric Soubeyras finishing fourth and fifth.
