Jantz Grodzicki Passes

According to a posting today on a Facebook account by his mother, young motocrosser Jantz Grodzicki passed away today at 12:56 p.m. (Eastern) from injuries sustained in a crash on Friday, November 23 at the Winter Olympics in Gainesville, Florida.

“Jantz passed away peacefully today, November 26, 2012 at 12:56 p.m.,” the posting from Lisa Grodzicki stated. “He was surrounded by his immediate family and friends. Jantz will be forever remembered as a fierce motocross competitor and for the warmth, kindness and amazing sense of humor he shared with everyone. Jantz is survived by his loving parents, Chris and Lisa, and 12-year-old sister, Jenna Reece.”

The 16-year-old Grodzicki sustained traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries from his crash in the 250 B Mod Motocross class at the 41st Annual Thor Winter Olympics. He was airlifted from the track and placed on life support. Initially, his condition was upgraded the following day, but things turned for the worst on Sunday, November 25.
