Jake Lewis to Meen Motorsports in 2013

AMA Supersport East Champion Jake Lewis has signed a two-year deal to race for the Meen Motorsports team in the AMA Daytona SportBike Championship.
The 17-year-old Kentuckian won the Supersport East Championship riding for Vesrah Suzuki, but with Vesrah cutting back on their AMA program, Lewis was left without a ride. Not for long. Meen Motorsports signed the former dirt tracker to ride their Yamaha YZF-R6 – with help from Graves Motorsports – next season. Bobby Fong rode the team’s Yamaha to eighth in this year’s DSB championship with three podiums.
“I am really excited to join the Meen Motorsports team for the 2013 season, contending with one of the best teams in the AMA paddock,” Lewis said in a team statement. “I am also very happy to be back on a Yamaha as I move on forward to the Daytona Sportbike class and welcome the challenges it will have for me. I will be training really hard during the off-season and will come ready to race at the Daytona 200 in March. Together, I believe the Meen Motorsports team and I will be a top competitor every weekend and I can’t wait to start testing.”
In 2012, his rookie year in AMA Pro Road Racing, Lewis raced in all of the Supersport rounds, scoring 11 podiums and three wins and clinching the Supersport East title over Dustin Dominguez in the final round at NOLA Motorsports Park. Lewis is the latest of the Supersport stars to move up a class. Supersport West Champion James Rispoli earlier announced he’d be racing the DSB class in 2013.
