AMA Grand National Championship runner-up Sammy Halbert underwent shoulder surgery yesterday to fix the injury he suffered at the Springfield Mile in May.

Doctors performed an anterior/posterior labrum surgery to repair the torn labrum.

Recovery consists of weeks in a sling and up to three months before the injury is totally healed, Halbert said.

“I’m just going to hit the rehab hard and do what they tell me,” Halbert said.

Here’s a look at Halbert’s crash from the May running of the Springfield Mile.
