The new 2013 Yamaha FJR1300A.
Yamaha unveiled two of some of the company’s most popular street bikes – the 2013 versions of the FJR1300A and FZ8. The “supersport touring” FJR1300R features numerous changes, while the sporty FZ8 features only a few – but significant – updates.
Starting with the FJR, it gets a complete electronics overhaul with Supersport-inspired features like Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T), Traction Control (TCS) and D-Mode (Sport and Touring). All these technologies work in unison with an all new Cruise Control system to ensure what Yamaha promises is an “inspired ride.”
The look of the FJR1300A has been completely modernized starting with a more aggressive shape and design of the front and side cowls. The windscreen has been changed and now goes up and down twice as fast and retains the same position when the key is removed.
The cockpit of the FJR1300A is completely new, too. The instrument cluster features three distinct easy-to-read panels. On the left is an analog tachometer, the center is a digital speedometer and to the right is a multi-dot digital display. The controls feature a multi-function handlebar switch system for operating the windscreen, heated grips and informational display, along with stand alone cruise control buttons.
It also gets new suspension settings front and rear. Standard ABS and Yamaha’s Unified Braking System are built in.
The 2013 FJR1300A will be available in one color -Stone Grey. The MSRP is $15,890 and will hit dealer floors this month.
The new 2013 Yamaha FZ8.
Yamaha addressed the number-one complaint about the FZ8 – its now-formerly non-adjustable suspension. The front fork, which used to offer just pre-load adjustability now offers both compression and rebound damping adjustability. The new shock now features both preload and compression damping adjustability, as well as a stiffer spring.
New fuel-injection settings promise a sportier engine feeling, quicker revving power character, and more direct and linear feeling from the throttle to the rear wheel. Adding more comfort to the FZ8’s ride is a new textured seat cover (at the top) with suede-like panels.
And topping things off is a more modern-looking muffler.
You’ll have to wait a little longer for the new FZ8. It won’t be available until February. It will be available in matte gray/matte black with an MSRP of $8890.
