Gerloff Set For New Jersey Return

Garrett Gerloff will return to action at the New Jersey Motorsports Park round of the AMA Supersport Series, the just-turned 17-year-old set to resume his promising young career some seven months after suffering a broken right femur in the very first practice session of his rookie season at Daytona in March.
Gerloff, however, will not compete in the Daytona SportBike Series as he was slated to do in 2012. Instead, he will move down to the Supersport Series for New Jersey and the other two remaining rounds in the series – Homestead-Miami Speedway and NOLA Motorsports Park.
Garrett’s return in New Jersey will take place at the same venue where he made his AMA Pro debut last year, the then 16 year old winning his first-ever Supersport race on the Saturday before finishing a close second the next day.
“The waiting has been almost as difficult as the fracture itself, Garrett said. “The bone went back together like a puzzle piece, and I’ve been so anxious to get back to racing. I’ve been to a couple of track days, which has been great, but September can’t come soon enough. I really like New Jersey Motorsports Park, and I did well there last year, so I’m looking forward to it.”
