LEXINGTON, OHIO, JULY 14 – Latus Motors Racing’s Dustin Dominguez started badly but finished strongly to take his first SuperSport East race win of the season on an overcast day at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Starting from the pole position, Dominguez, riding the Castrol Triumph Daytona 675R, faltered and was consumed by half a dozen riders. Then came the charge, which quickly carried him  into the lead.

Dominguez went around early leader James Rispoli (Celtic Racing/Orient Express Racing Suzuki) in the final few corners of the second lap to take the lead.

With clear track ahead, Dominguez sailed into the distance, building his lead to over 3.66 secs. before slowing to win by 1.995 secs. Rispoli was second and Stefano Mesa (Kneedraggers.com Yamaha) a distant third, after emerging the victor in an engaging three-way battle for the final podium spot. Mesa held off local hero Ryan Kerr (RFC/Sunstar Kawasaki) and Tomas Puerta (Road Race Factory Yamaha) to finish third. Third to fifth was covered by .357 sec.

Class points leader Vesrah Suzuki’s Jake Lewis had an off day, finishing 11th and seeing his East points lead shrink. Lewis has 148 points to 130 for Dominguez and 120 for Mesa.
