Wyman Wins Close V&H XR1200 Race at Road America

ELKHART LAKE, WI, JUNE 3 – With Tyler O’Hara’s runaway victory at Miller Motorsports Park fresh in everyone’s mind, Kyle Wyman was asked what would prevent a similar occurrence this weekend. “This track has three straightaways,” Wyman pointed out, and he was right.

The Vance & Hines XR1200 race turned into a drafting duel among Wyman (KLR Group/Vesrah/GK Motorsports) and the two Bartels H-D/Scrubblade XR1200s of O’Hara and teammate Michael Barnes.

The race was entertaining from the start, with the lead trio pulling a gap, then swapping spots every lap. O’Hara led the first four laps, Wyman then took over.

As expected, it came down to the final lap, with Wyman in the less than desirable position of leading out of the final corner for the run up the ramp to the line. But Wyman made the most of it, getting through the last right cleanly, driving up the hill and to the right of the track, and holding off Barnes by .156 sec. O’Hara was third, another .246 sec. back.

Travis Wyman (Harv’s Harley-Davidson) just held off former Supermoto rider Benny Carlson (Suburban Harley-Davidson) to take fourth. The gap was .007 sec. Kuryakyn/Racing for a Wish rider Gerry Signorelli was a close sixth, with David Estok following shortly in seventh on the Ruthless Racing Inc/Deeley H-D Racing bike.

In winning his second race of the year-Daytona was the first-Wyman closed the points gap on O’Hara to nine, 129 to 138. Barnes sits third with 123.
