MotoGP race director Mike Webb met with team principals late on Friday night in Qatar, the site of Sunday’s MotoGP, to discuss rules changes going forward.
There are a number of proposals on the table, some of which the factories may agree to, others not. One of the more contentious issues is a rev limiter, which Webb said, in his personal opinion, was “inevitable and it’s the single easiest cost saver and performance limiter. At the moment we’re relying on fuel capacity as a performance limit. The guys are getting very, very good at running lean engines, so we’ve got extremely fast motorcycles.”
Ducati technical boss Filippo Preziosi, whose Desmosedici GP12s have the highest revving engines, it’s believed, was opposed to a cap.
