Kawasaki’s Joan Lascorz crashed his ZX-10R today during the first session of the official World Superbike test session at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy, and has been airlifted to the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna with a spinal injury.

The 27-year-old Spaniard, who finished seventh and ninth in yesterday’s two World Superbike races at Imola, lost control of his Kawasaki in the uphill section from Tosa to Piratella and crashed heavily. Lascorz was given medical treatment on the scene and was transported to the circuit’s medical center. With a probable fracture of the vertebra diagnosed by Dr. Giancarlo Caroli, the circuit medical officer, Lascorz was immediately airlifted to Bologna.

Lascorz has three World Supersport wins to his credit and is currently in his second season of World Superbike racing with the factory Kawasaki team.
