Yamaha Extended Services/ Graves Yamaha’s 16-year-old Garrett Gerloff suffered a broken right femur in this morning’s first session of Daytona SportBike practice for Saturday’s Daytona 200, Yamaha has confirmed. Gerloff suffered a highside in turn one, bringing a stoppage to the session. He was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach where he was diagnosed with a fracture of his right femur.

“Garrett was on the gas, in the top 10 on lap times, and moving up when the incident occurred,” team owner Chuck Graves said in the Yamaha release. “Garrett was awake and alert throughout the ordeal, and he’s in good spirits despite what is an obvious setback. Our thoughts are with Garrett and his family, and we wish him a speedy recovery. We look forward to seeing him back aboard his number 8 Yamaha R6 as soon as he is able.”
