Defending OMA Nationals Champion Paul Whibley, on the Sidi/G2 backed Yamaha, was victorious at the round one OMA Nationals Seven Springs XC held in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Russell Bobbitt, on the FMF KTM, captured second place just 33 seconds behind Whibley, while Husaberg’s Nick Fahringer took the final podium spot. Scott Watkins picked up fourth place and privateer Shane Klimek rounded out the top five aboard his new/old stock 2006 Suzuki RM250 two-stroke.

Paul Whible topped the Seven Spring Cross Country OMA in Alabama.

OMA newcomer Corey MacDonald put his Obermeyer Yamaha in sixth place ahead of Brett Zofchak, on his Moose Racing KTM, and the Yamaha of Zac Nash. The final two spots in the top 10 were grabbed by A class riders, Husaberg-mounted A Open winner Kyleer Vance and Lites A winner, KTM pilot Andrew Smith.

“It all worked out good,” said Whibley, who admitted to have been sick all week and unable to trailn before the race. “Russell and Nick Fahringer were fast on the first couple laps and we were right together there.”

Bobbitt led the first lap but dropped to third on lap two, and then he regained second place to the finish. A small crash would delay Bobbitt just enough to let Whibley get a gap and that was all it took for the New Zealander to get away for the win.
