ANAHEIM, CA, JAN. 5 – Monster Energy has signed on for four more years as the title sponsor of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series with the announcement coming at today’s pre-Anaheim Supercross press conference at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.
“Having a stable, long-term sponsor is vital to Supercross – it’s vital to any motorsports property and we have been blessed since 2008 to have Monster Energy as the title sponsor of Supercross and the official energy drink of Arenacross,” said Feld Motorsports Chief Operating Officer Ken Hudgens. “It’s my pleasure to announce today that Feld Motorsports and Monster Energy are extending that agreement to the year 2016. It’s a big deal in all of our worlds. Monster is heavily invested in the sport from every aspect, whether it be the athletes, the teams and the property itself. What we look for in a title sponsor is stability and somebody who can take the sport to places we can’t take it on our own. Monster gives us all of that. They market to a fan base that we can’t get to ourselves; they activate around that fan base in a way that we could never do. A 47-year-old guy like me can’t make Supercross cool, but Monster can. They bring everything to the table that we are looking for and they are great partners.”
The deal includes Monster’s sponsorship as the official drink of Arenacross and it also includes the Monster Cup that made its debut in Las Vegas last year.
“We love Monster Energy Supercross,” said Monster’s Bruce Sjernstrom. “This fits our brand right down the middle. Of all the sports that we are involved in, and we’re involved in many, many sports, this sport has our largest investment. We hold it very close to us. It fits our brand perfectly.”
In a separate announcement, Hutchins also announced that Todd Jendro had been promoted to Vice President of Feld Motorsports.
“It’s long overdue and very well deserved,” Hudgens said.
