AMA Superbike Tests Scheduled

Cycle News Staff | January 24, 2012

The AMA Pro Road Racing teams will get four days of testing at the two new (or new to most) facilities slated to host AMA Superbike rounds this season – Homestead-Miami Speedway south of Miami, Florida, and the new NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Homestead test is first up with a two-day test slated for March 20-21 – six months prior to AMA’s return to the facility, September 21-23. The NOLA test will be held June 26-27 in advance of the first-ever AMA Superbike race there, October 5-7.

The two-day tests will include track time from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break, media availability and will be staffed by AMA Pro Racing competition and timing & scoring personnel. In an effort to keep travel and transportation expenses to a minimum, each test has been scheduled for the Tuesday and Wednesday following an AMA Pro Road Racing event in the same region. The Homestead test follows on the heels of Daytona with NOLA’s test coming after the Barber Motorsports Park event. NOLA is some 400 miles away from Barber.

In order to participate in either test, riders must have a valid 2012 AMA Pro Road Racing competition license and be pre-entered in the 2012 race event scheduled at the respective track. Entry forms and competition bulletins detailing each test will be available in the competition section of AMA Pro Racing’s website.
