“I think I’m not just a motorcycle racer, I want to say I’m also a car driver,” says Ducati Marlboro’s Valentino Rossi in this video produced by Monster Energy, which sponsored his Ford Fiesta WRC rally car and the cars of some of his closest friends in this past week’s Monza Rally Show on the iconic Monza Autodrome outside of Milan.

“This is our prize for after a long season of work because (Davide) Brivio,” Rossi’s advisor/manager, “and Uccio (Alessio Salucci),” Rossi’s close friend, “always work with me and we come here I think is one of the best weeks of the year because you race, but at the same time you don’t have a lot of pressure, so you can enjoy.”

Rossi enjoyed it so much that he finished second overall to eight-time and reigning World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb of France, beating him twice.

“Already race with Sebastien (Loeb) is great, but fight with him and especially beat him two times is something fantastic,” Rossi said. “So I already speak with him and I say I take the lap times and I put in my room, because is Rossi on front of Loeb, so is great.”

He added. “Second is never like first, but when you lose in a rally car against Loeb, anyway is great, but the result are fantastic, but also the atmosphere is fantastic.”
