Stewart Pleads No Contest To Charges

Two-time AMA Supercross Champion James Stewart pleaded no contest today in an Osceola County (Florida) Courthouse to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of using flashing or rotating lights on a motor vehicle, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Stewart was originally charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer, which is a felony, after being accused of using “flea-market bought” flashing lights to pull over a vehicle containing actual law enforcers on March 28.

The Sentinel reported that the plea agreement calls for Stewart to perform 75 hours of community service, though adjudication of guilt was withheld because he is a first-time offender. He will have to pay a $500 fine and will be on probation for a year.

On March 28, Stewart was arrested on the impersonation charge when he tried to stop another vehicle, occupied by two law officers, using red and blue police-type lights. The officers called 911 and Stewart was later arrested at Orlando International Airport.
