The World Superbike Champion in 2011 is a privateer. Or is he?He is a MotoGP reject. Or is he?He only won the World Superbike title because he is on a bike with 200cc more than the rest. Or did he?We ask Carlos Checa the questions about how he and his privately owned team on one of the oldest bikes in the class have beaten the might of six other manufacturers in a championship were any one of six riders were theoretically a better bet at the start of the year.

I bet you are very happy that you did not retire after leaving GP racing?

I had other opportunities, with Ducati like a test rider, but I felt that there were still things to learn, to s how, to do. My stage was not finished, I feel.F
