Solis Dominates Laguna Supersport

MONTEREY, CA, JULY 23 – Benny Solis made a mockery of the Supersport final at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the Red Bull/Erion Racing/Roadracingworld.com-backed Californian leading by over 20 seconds before an off-track excursion with a few laps to go cost him time. Still, he won by 8.3 seconds after 18 laps on his Honda CBR600RR.Second place was a fight to the finish with Tomas Puerta beating Vesrah Suzuki’s Corey Alexander by just .037 of a second. And Puerta’s LTD Yamaha teammate David Gaviria was even closer in third place – just .001 of a second behind Alexander as the three crossed the line side by side.Fifth place went to SuzukiScoopFan’s Elena Myers, the GSX-R-mounted Myers in the mix for second place until falling off the pace in the closing stages. She would end up 12.6 seconds behind.Stefano Mesa finished sixth on his Rata Racing Suzuki over the Jake Holden Racing Yamaha of Travis Ohge. Dustin Dominguez, Colter Dimick and Sebastiao Ferreira rounded out the top 10.
