Isle of Man resident Neil Hodgson gives viewers an insider’s look at the 2011 Isle of Man TT on the first of 13 shows about the historic race being telecast on Discovery’s HD Theatre channel. In the first episode, “The Insider’s Guide,” which airs Saturday, July 16, at 11:00 EDT, the former World Superbike champion, seen in the photo below on a 1939 Norton, gives viewers a sense of what the two week extravaganza of speed is all about. The remaining episodes follow in the same time slot. The racing segments are narrated by British commentators.

The second show, “Hutchy’s Historic Year,” has Hodgson taking viewers through the spectacular performance of Yorkshireman Ian Hutchinson in the 2010 TT. Hutchinson won a record five races, capping it off with a win in the shortened and re-started Senior TT. But tragedy struck later in the year when Hutchinson crashed in the rain on the first lap of a BSB Supersport race at Silverstone, suffering severe injuries to the fibula and tibia of his left leg. Since then, Hutchinson has undergone 16 operations and skin grafts and was forced to miss this year’s IoM TT.The shows following “Hutchy’s Historic Year” include episodes on practice, the Superbike race, the sidecar race, the Supersport race, the Superstock race, the second Supersport race, the second sidecar race, the Senior TT and the zero emissions SES TT Zero Race, in which Mark Miller (MotoCzysz E1PC/Segway Racing) finished second to teammate Michael Rutter.
