Harley Test Set For Indy

The Vance & Hines XR1200 teams will test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, August 18-19 – a week prior to their race that will run in conjunction with the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix – and fans are being invited to go to the Speedway to watch.The test will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. both days.Fans can watch both days of the test from the infield grandstands and viewing mounds adjacent to the IMS Hall of Fame Museum. Admission is free.

The Red Bull Indianapolis GP, August 26-28, will be the Brickyard debut for AMA Pro Racing’s newest class, which features nearly identical Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycles.Vance & Hines XR1200 competition adds a fourth class of racing to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend, as it joins the three World Championship classes – MotoGP, Moto2 and 125cc – competing on the 16-turn, 2.621-mile circuit that combines part of the famed IMS oval with an infield section.The class is open to Harley-Davidson XR1200X motorcycles modified with a Vance & Hines kit that includes items such as exhaust system, belly pan, front fender, front wheel and seat assembly. Additional modifications are limited to racing suspension, hand and foot controls, brake components and instrumentation. Like all other AMA Pro Road Racing classes, the Vance & Hines XR1200 class uses Dunlop-spec tires and Sunoco spec fuel.
