LEXINGTON, OHIO, JULY 10 – Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing’s Chris Fillmore took control of the Vance & Hines XR1200 race early on and sped to a convincing victory in the first race of the day at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.Fillmore passed Parts Unlimited/Vance & Hines’ Steve Rapp on the second of 11 laps and quickly began to ease away. The gap increased a bit each lap until the fifth, when Fillmore set the fastest lap of the race. When the lap ended Fillmore had nearly two seconds in hand. The gap continued to increase with Fillmore winning by 6.587 secs.

The win was Fillmore’s third of the year, to go with two seconds and third. Fillmore stretched his points lead over Rapp to an even 30, 167 to 137, with three rounds remaining.Rapp began to slow dramatically-the riders just behind saw Rapp having tire issues-and was soon in danger of being passed. Rapp managed to hold on until the final lap when he was passed by Michael Beck (J&P Cycles/Vance & Hines) at the start of the lap and by Kyle Wyman (Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing) at the finish line. Beck was .400 sec. in front of Wyman, whose half a bikelength translated to .033 sec.Tyler OHara was a distant fifth while fending off Michael Barnes on the Drag Specialties XR1200.XR1200 Results:1.
