The KTM factory could not have asked for a better day at the Grand Prix of Latvia in Kegums, Sunday, July 17. Both Red Bull Teka factory KTM riders Ken Roczen and Antonio Cairoli came away with the overall wins in their respective classes, topping both motos and stretching out their points leads.

For Cairoli, it was his first double win of the season in the MX1 class and his 40th career GP victory. Cairoli and the hard-packed track were untouchable, as the defending champ rode away from everyone in both motos.Second overall went to Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard who went 2-2 for second overall. In the first moto, he passed Evgeny Bobryshev on the last lap and took the checkered flag right behind Cairoli.Honda’s Bobryshev finished third overall after suffering a bit in the heat in the first moto, and took third in the second moto when Clement Desalle bobbled. It was the third podium for the Russian in the last three GPs.Fourth went to Cairoli’s teammate Rui Concalves who went 7-4, and fifth overall went to Monster Energy Yamaha’s David Philipaerts.Past GP winner Clement Desalle, on the Rockstar Energy Suzuki, had a tough outing. He fell in the first moto and bobbled again in the second moto, going 8-8 on the day.

In the MX2 class, Red Bull Teka KTM’s Roczen dominated both motos. He did, however, follow his teammate Jeffery Herlings five laps before taking over for good in the first outing.Herlings fell in the second moto but still went 2-3 for second overall.CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Tommy Searle obtained a final third position after finishing second and third, respectively. After missing the top five positions in the last GP, CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Max Anstie succeeded in finishing fourth overall, ahead of Zach Osborne. Anstie struggled with his starts but finished fifth and fourth, respectively, for fourth overall.Bike-it Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha’s Zach Osborne, who is suffering with the Eptein-barr virus, was fourth at the start of race one, but he quickly dropped some positions and finished seventh. In the second heat, Osborne had a bad start but he managed to cross the finish line in the fifth position, which gave him fifth overall.
