Suzuki Endurance On Pole In Spain

The Suzuki Endurance Racing Team of Vincent Philippe, Freddy Foray and Daisaku Sakai will start today’s second round of the World Endurance Championship in Albacete, Spain from pole position after Philippe lapped the circuit in 1:30.409 in this morning’s second and final qualifying session.Fourth in yesterday’s opening qualifying, Philippe was fastest in the second session with the defending World Champions earning pole by just .02 of a second over the BMW Motorrad France 99 entry of Sebastien Gimbert, Erwan Nigon and Hugo Marchand. The Monster YART Yamaha team of Igor Jerman, Steve Martin and Gwen Giabbani will start third, though they will be forced to start on their back-up bike after Giabbani crashed the number one bike a the end of the session.

The race begins at 6 p.m. local time tonight and finishes at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning.American Jason Pridmore will start the race from the seventh starting position with his teammates Gregoro Junod and Gregg Black on the Maco Racing Team entry.
