Monster Energy Graves Motorsports Yamaha’s Josh Herrin has been slapped with a one-event suspension by AMA Pro Racing following his run in with Dane Westby that led to Westby and Taylor Knapp crashing on the run to the finish line in the Daytona 200 on March 12.The penalty will knock Herrin out of the two Daytona SportBike races at Infineon Raceway, May 13-15, and will seriously hamper his chances of winning the Daytona SportBike Championship in 2011.In addition, Herrin has also been placed on season-long probation that will remain in effect until December 31.

If Herrin violates the probation it could lead to “further and more serious penalties.”Herrin wasn’t the only one penalized as his Graves team has also been fined $7500 with that money going to the purchase of additional air fence, according to AMA Pro Racing. The team and Herrin can participate in the official AMA Pro test at Miller Motorsports Park, May 2-3.
