AMA Flat Track Schedule Changes

Cycle News Staff | March 7, 2011

AMA Pro Racing announced a few tweaks to the 2011 AMA Pro Flat Track Series today – namely the addition of a race in Salinas, California, that will make the event a TT/short track doubleheader instead of the originally scheduled short track only event.

The Salinas round will feature a TT on Saturday night, April 23, with a short track on Sunday, April 24.

With the good comes some bad as the promoters at the Yavapi Downs venue in Prescott Valley, Arizona, have announced the cancellation of the round originally scheduled for May 1. Prescott will, however, still run its October 9 event.

Montana’s MetraPark has also pulled its date from the 2011 calendar, but Michigan’s I-96 Speedway has taken the date and will run a half mile on July 23. I-96 was originally on the schedule for July 16, but will make the change to the 23rd to run their race in conjunction with the area’s River City Bike Week. The race will now be re-branded to “DMX Nation” and will play host to the DMX Motorsports Show, whose crew will film five days at the Speedway.
