Rapp For Vance & Hines XR1200 Series

Steve Rapp and Michael Barnes are the latest additions to the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series, with Rapp set to ride a Parts Unlimited-backed Harley-Davidson XR1200 while Barnes will be aboard a Drag Specialties-sponsored XR.Rapp, the 2007 Daytona 200 winner, will be riding the bike for the first time at Daytona. Barnes, however, got a taste of the class when he finished second in the season finale last year at Barber Motorsports Park. Barnes also set the quickest lap times in the class during the Daytona tire tests back in December.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring both our Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties brands together for the first time, along with the Python brand in a single series,” said company vice-president Greg Blackwell. “The XR1200s are going to bring back a thundering roar to the high banks of Daytona International Speedway we haven’t heard since the days of the Battle of the Twins back in the ‘90s.”Parts Unlimited has also announced that road race veteran Mike Morgan will ride a Python Performance-backed XR1200 in the series.The AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series kicks off the 2011 season during Bike Week at Daytona International Speedway, March 10-12.
