Joan Lascorz, the third-place finisher in this year’s World Supersport Championship who will make his World Superbike debut next year, had his first outing on the 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R in Almeria, Spain recently, the Spaniard joined by Kawasaki World Supersport riders Broc Parkes and David Salom.Lascorz is still recovering from the injuries he suffered in a crash in early August at Silverstone, but he left the three-day test pleased.”I felt very good at this test, but I must get a little more strength back to push the bike to his limits,” said Lascorz in a team release. “My first impression of the bike is very positive and it delivers power in a good way. On the first day I made a few laps, on the second day a few more and on the last day I felt much happier, and did even more laps than before. I had a much better feeling from the bike also. For the moment I have to ride around my lack of strength, but otherwise it all went okay. I have a few weeks to go before the Sepang test so I am working on improving my condition to let me go faster on the bike. For sure I will be ready for the first race.”Lascorz won the Valencia round of the World Supersport Series this year and finished on the podium seven other times, ending up third in the points chase behind Kenan Sofuoglu and Eugene Laverty despite missing the final three races of the season. Sofuoglu will move to the Moto2 World Championship next year with Laverty signing on to race World Superbike for Yamaha.Lascorz will be joined by Tom Sykes and Chris Vermeulen on the Paul Bird-owned Kawasaki team in next year’s World Superbike Championship.
