Roger DeCoster filled out his US factory Red Bull KTM team by signing Andrew Short for the 2011 season.Short, who missed most of this past Supercross season with an injury, finished up the outdoor national series a solid third overall for Red Bull Honda, and had a strong showing as a member of Team USA at this year’s Motocross of Nations in Colorado.Short will contest the upcoming Supercross series in the 450 division, while teammates Ken Roczen of Germany and current MX2 world champion Marvin Musquin contest the 250 class. Meanwhile, Mike Alessi will join the team during the national Motocross series.DeCoster was impressed with Short’s effort during the MXoN.”I have known Andrew for many years and of course we had closer contact this year when preparing and racing for the MXoN,” said DeCoster.
“I’m looking forward to working with him and the other KTM riders as we begin testing and preparing for the coming season. We now have a strong team and one with real potential.”Pit Beirer, head of KTM Racing, was equally impressed. “With Andrew, Mike, Marvin and Ken we have a solid lineup for our first year as a full factory racing team in USA competition,” Beirer said. “Under the guiding hand of Roger DeCoster, one of the most experienced and respected figures in the sport, we expect that this team will lay the groundwork for emulating the success we now enjoy in Europe.”
