Word from the Chad Reed camp is that the Multiple AMA/World Supercross champion will be on the starting gate for the opening round of the Monster Energy Super X at Energy Australia Stadium in Newcastle, Australia, on October 16th.The 28-year-old Reed recently parted ways with Monster Energy Kawasaki after a difficult season that saw injury end his bid for the Supercross title earlier in the year. Reed later came down with the debilitating Epstein Barr virus, which put a halt to his outdoor title defense, as well.Reed’s departure from Kawasaki has led to much speculation about where he will end up for the 2011 season. And word from Reed’s PR people is that he has partnered with a blue-chip global brand to appear at Energy Australia Stadium and will debut a “unique race machine” in the week leading up to the event.”It’s been a tough year, and although it’s not ideal to be racing at this point I would not miss the chance to be able to race in front of a home crowd with my family, friends and fans in the stands,” said Reed. “This will be a really special time for me, I can’t wait to compete in front of a Novacastrian crowd again.”
