Monster Energy Kawasaki and Chad Reed have parted ways, according to a press release issued Friday by Kawasaki. The statement indicated that the decision was mutual. “Monster Energy Kawasaki would like to thank Chad Reed for being a part of our team for the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series and the Lucas Oil AMA Motocross series,” the release read. “Reed was a valuable member of our program, scoring one win and multiple podium finishes…”Reed’s departure from the team adds one more name to the list of riders in negotiation for 2011 contracts and there are plenty of rumors and speculation to go around. Rumor has it that Kawasaki has re-signed Ryan Villopoto for the upcoming season, although they are waiting to make an announcement stating so. Trey Canard is signed with Honda, as well, but other heavy hitters like Andrew Short, Josh Grant, Ben Townley, and Brett Metcalfe are still waiting to make a deal. Of course, Roger DeCoster will be looking for talent for his 2011 KTM squad, which adds to the intrigue. Reed and DeCoster had a successful relationship in 2009 with Suzuki.
