Chris Bach to Race EnduroCross (08/20/2010)

Press Release | August 20, 2010

The following is a press release…

Off-road motorcycle racing enthusiasts are always arguing who’s better – the GNCC and OMA series guys from the East or the WORCS and AMA Hare & Hound guys from the West. Friday night, August 27th in Indianapolis top GNCC racer Chris Bach plans on adding fuel to the fiery debate when he boots up for his first-ever GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, at the Pepsi Coliseum, Indiana State Fairgrounds.

The Indiana native and current 5th ranked premier XC1 class GNCC racer burst onto the off-road scene in 2009 and was tabbed as the series “Amateur Rider of the Year.” In 2010 Bach’s kept it on the pipe, locking down three GNCC XC1 class podium finishes and three additional top five finishes through nine races this season.

But looming ahead is an EnduroCross track that promises to kick the crap out of him. And he knows it, but he is primed for the challenge.

“I think EnduroCross is totally unique. I don’t think you can say an East Coast guy will be good, or a West Coast guy will be good, or a trials guy will be good,” explained Bach. “It has evolved into its own sport and style of racing, so much so that I think within the next few years someone is going to be an EnduroCross specialist. That’s it. All they do is EX.”

Bach says “No training, no testing” in terms of preparing for next  Saturday’s event at the Pepsi Coliseum. In fact, Bach won’t even have the advantage of running one of his GNCC-tuned bikes, adding “At this point all I know is that it’ll be orange (KTM).”

“I’m completely winging it and relying on my constant weekly fundamental skill drills I work on to get me to the main event,” says Bach. “If I make it to the main it’s going to be exciting. I’m not racing to lose that’s for sure.”

And in Bach’s corner will no doubt be one of the Pepsi Coliseum’s largest cheering sections, getting behind their local boy from Crown Point, Ind. “Every time I get to race in Indiana, whether it’s here in Indy for EnduroCross, in some back woods or a field for a local hare scramble, I’m always pumped to be back racing with and/or for friends and family.”
