Windham To Fill In For Millsaps

Honda announced today that Kevin Windham, who finished second in the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship on the GIECO Powersports Honda, will step in for the injured Davi Millsaps at the factory Honda Red Bull team and is expected to ride at least a few rounds of the remaining seven rounds of Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Champion along side teammate Andrew Short and Ashley Fiolek, who competes in the WMA Championship.Millsaps crashed and suffered internal injuries at the Budds Creek National almost two weeks ago and his return has not yet been determined, though it’s possible that he’ll sit out the rest of the series.

Windham, who has a Supercross-only contract, will make his outdoor debut at the Spring Creek round in Millville, Minnesota, July 17. Windham hasn’t ridden an outdoor National since the middle of last year when he rode a 250.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity to fill in for Davi until he’s healthy and ready to race again,” Windham said. “As I said earlier this year, I had no intentions of racing the full motocross season, but it will be great to get back on the bike and fill in for a few races. I want to thank my GEICO Powersports Honda team for supporting me in this effort, and of course Honda Red Bull racing for giving me this opportunity to team with Andrew Short and Ashley Fiolek. This should be a lot of fun.”
