Troy Adams Podiums at Gopher Dunes (07/21/2010)

Press Release | July 21, 2010

The following is a press release from Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki…One of the toughest tracks in Canada greeted the Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki team with heat and humidity as the team looked to keep its three race podium streak alive.  Josh Demuth and Troy Adams took to the track for round five of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals looking forward to racing again after the three week break.  The team has finished on the podium in all but the first round with Adams’ third place finish  at the Gopher Dunes track.  However, Demuth lost his third place in championship points after tangling with a lapped rider in the opening moto to end his day.

Both riders ended up with poor starts in the first MX1 Pro moto and battled their way towards the front of the field.  Adams, a Florida native, enjoyed racing through the pack on the rough sand track as he made numerous passes to get to a top five position.  He eventually crossed the finish line in fourth after Kyle Keast ran out of gas on the last lap while holding down second place.  He also gained another position after another rider was penalized for a rules violation to score his first podium of the season.

Demuth stayed on Adams’ rear wheel throughout the race as the two teammates worked through the field.  In the final stages of the moto, Demuth was battling with Bobby Kiniry and trying to make the pass.  The battle was important since Kiniry is one spot ahead of Demuth in championship points.  However, a lapped rider cut in front of Demuth as he tried to pass along a high speed straightaway and knocked him to the ground.  Demuth could not continue because of the injuries he sustained.

Demuth was unable to start the second moto leaving Adams as the team’s lone rider in the final moto of the day.  Once again, he got a poor start but moved into the top ten within the first couple of laps.  By the midway point he had moved into fourth position but a small mistake with three laps remaining caused him to fall.  He was passed by a few riders by the time he got going again and finished the race in seventh position.

“I really enjoyed the track today,” said Adams.  “I like sand tracks and I finally had a few breaks go my way in that first moto so that obviously helps. I’m disappointed in myself because I had second overall locked up until I fell in the last few laps of the second moto.  But overall, I’m glad I could come out of the break to ride strong and it will carry us into the last half of the season.”

The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki Racing Team will travel to Circuit de Ste-Julie in Ste-Julie, QC on July 25, 2010 for round six of the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.
