Bostrom On Provisional Pole

MONTEREY, CA, JULY 24 – It may only last for four hours, but Ben Bostrom put his Pat Clark Motorsports Yamaha R1 on provisional pole position with final qualifying slated to take place at 3:50 p.m.at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.But the morning session definitely belonged to Bostrom, the Californian lapping at 1:24.552 to lead the field. Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Tommy Hayden, the man who was quickest in yesterday’s free practice session, ended up second best today, but just .123 of a second behind Bostrom. Graves Motorsports Yamaha’s Josh Hayes was next – another .173 of a second behind Hayden.The provisional front row was filled by M4 Monster Suzuki’s Jake Holden, with Holden failing to join the other three in the 1:24s.Fifth place went to the returning Eric Bostrom on the Attack Performance/Cycle World Suzuki GSX-R1000. Bostrom bested Larry Pegram and his Foremost Ducati, National Guard Suzuki’s Jake Zemke and Michael Jordan Motorsports’ Brett McCormick in his comeback ride.Jason Pridmore is also making a return to AMA racing this weekend, the former Superstock Champion ending the first session 10th.
