AMA Congratulates Loretta Lynn Qualifiers

Press Release | July 30, 2010

The following is from the AMA…The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) congratulates the 1,486 AMA members who have qualified for the biggest week in amateur motocross: the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships, presented by Amsoil, at the Loretta Lynn Ranch Monday, Aug. 2, through Saturday, Aug. 7, in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

“The AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships have represented the pinnacle of amateur motocross for nearly 30 years,” said AMA Director of Racing Joe Bromley. “For many of these riders, this will be the first step to a career at the highest levels of the sport. For others, this is the highlight of their summer — the ultimate family motocross vacation. Regardless of what brings these riders to the ranch this year, we’re proud of their accomplishments and look forward to a great week of racing.”

Since Dave Coombs Sr. and Paul Shlegel founded the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships in 1982, the event has honored the goals of fairness, safety and fun, delivering to thousands of families a priceless motocross experience every summer. Event promoter MX Sports manages a nationwide qualifying system that ensures equal representation from AMA members all over the country, while the world-class track is used only for this one event, providing a level playing field for all competitors.

“The AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships are the proving grounds for tomorrow’s motocross superstars,” Bromley said. “The future of the sport will literally be on display in the Tennessee dirt next week, and we wish the riders, their families, as well as the operational crew of MX Sports, a safe and fun week of racing.”

To see that future as it plays out in 35 classes running 99 motos, keep an eye on MXSports.com for the latest results as they become official.
