Cose Fastest in Gas City Grand National Qualifying

Fremont, California’s Chad Cose was the fastest rider in timed qualifying for the AMA Pro K&N Filters Grand National Championship presented by Motorcyclesuperstore.com this afternoon at Gas City/I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Indiana. Cose clocked a 16-second lap time aboard his Digger Helm/Lightshoe/Arlen Ness Honda CRF450. He nipped Henry Wiles and Matt Weidman for the best qualifying time.

The wide and racey Gas City Short track made for some incredibly even racing times. The entire 40-rider Grand National qualifying field was cover by less than 9-10ths of a second.

“In qualifying I really focus on running smooth laps,” said Cose, who qualified fastest at the Springfield TT a few weeks ago. “We made some changes from the first session to the second and it really worked. I’ve managed to qualify fastest a couple of times now and the focus for me is to get up there and get a good start in my Heat race. If I can get up there and ride my own race I think I can do well. I was running down at the bottom and the low line seemed to be working really well.”

The night’s program is slated to start at 7:00 pm. The weather forecast calls for clear skies; this after the event was postponed two weeks ago due to rain.
