The following is from the FIM…The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Claude Danis (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in the presence of M. Paul Butler (Secretary of the meeting) and Javier Alonso (Dorna), in an electronic meeting held on May 20 decided unanimously to introduce the following amendment to the road-racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.

Application from May 24.Moto2 Class1. “In the Moto2 class, lateral engine covers containing oil and which could be in contact with the ground during a crash, must be protected by a second cover made from composite materials, e.g. type carbon or Kevlar ®. Plates and/or bars from aluminium or steel are also permitted. All these devices must be designed to be resistant against sudden shocks and abrasion and must be fixed properly and securely.”

2. Change in procedure for the selection of front slick tires.

“Front slick tires: 7 in total, comprised of either:

3 of specification “A” + 4 of specification “B” or

4 of specification “A” + 3 of specification “B”

Front tire specification choice will be made as follows:

6 tires comprised of 3 of specification “A” + 3 of specification “B” will be allocated on the day before the start of official practice as per Art. 2.9.2

1 tire will be allocated after the first practice, comprised of:

1 of specification “A” or

1 of specification “B”

The riders´ selection of front tire specification must be informed to the tire supplier no later than 2 hours after the end of the first practice session. If no specification selection is received by this time the allocation of the 1 tire will automatically be 1 of specification “A”.”
