Beach Over Beaubier in Supersport

BRASELTON, GA, APRIL 17: Rockwall Performance Yamaha’s J.D. Beach re-passed teammate Cameron Beaubier for the lead on the final lap, then held him off to take his first win in the red flag-interrupted SuperSport race late on a cool afternoon at Road Atlanta.The teammates were at the front of the field when the race was stopped near the midpoint of the 16-lap affair. When it was re-started, they took off, along with LTD Racing’s Huntley Nash. But in the final two laps the teammates left Nash behind and made the race their own.Starting the final lap Beaubier went under Beach for the lead in Turn 1. He held it onto the backstraight, where he looked over his left shoulder to check on Beach. Beach was coming hard, but on his right, and made the pass into Turn 10. From there he held off Beaubier to win. His previous best was second at Virginia International Raceway last year.The margin of victory was .108 secs.Nash finished alone in third, with Travis Wyman (Tri) holding off LTD Racing’s Tomas Puerta for fifth.Results:1.
