Matt Moss Injures Back

Shortly after Rockstar Makita Suzuki announced that it had signed Australian motocrosser Matt Moss to ride alongside Ryan Dungey on the factory-backed RM-Z450 in the United States in 2010, Moss suffered a broken back while competing in the final round of the Australasian Monster Energy Super X Championship in Brisbane. Moss had already clinched the Lites-class Championship two rounds earlier and was competing in the final moto when he crashed on the final lap Saturday night.”It was starting to rain and he lost traction in the whoops and dropped the front end,” team manager Roger DeCoster said.We spoke with DeCoster on Monday morning, December 7, and he was optimistic that the injury might not be too serious.”He’s in the hospital and is waiting to see a specialist from Sydney,” DeCoster said. “After that we’ll have a better idea. He broke the C5 (vertebrae) but it was not displaced and there is no paralysis. There’s a chance his comeback might be pretty quick actually, but we will wait to hear from the specialist before we know for sure, which should be later today.”
