“That’s News To Me” – Kevin Schwantz

Reports from Europe that have former World Champion Kevin Schwantz running a Suzuki satellite team in 2011 are news to Schwantz.

“I haven’t heard anything about a satellite team in 2011,” Schwantz said today from his home in Austin, Texas. “We know how hard Suzuki is struggling to have a factory team much less a satellite team – so that would be my only take on that.”

The reports have Schwantz liked with JiR (Japan Italy Racing) team owner Gianluca Montiron, who at one time ran the Camel and Konica Minolta satellite teams that used Hondas.

Schwantz has long expressed a desire to get back to MotoGP as a team owner or manager, but thus far hasn’t been able to make that happen.

Not that Schwantz’ life suffers from a lack of things to keep him busy. On the schedule for this weekend, a trip to Green Bay for the Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings game with Yoshimura Suzuki’s Blake Young.
