We’ve actually known it for quite some time, but now it’s official. It looks like Chad Reed’s has finalized his contract with factory Kawasaki and will be running out of the Monster Energy rig alongside Ryan Villopoto in 2010. Reed, who is currently in Australia racing his Super X series, is slated to contest the AMA Supercross Championship and also defend his number one plate in the outdoors, as well.Photo right: Prior to the contract being official, Reed has already been photographed in Kawasaki dress, such as this photo from a Scott USA goggle press release.

Following is a release from Kawasaki…

Monster Energy Kawasaki has signed four-time AMA Champion Chad Reed to compete in the AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross championships. Reed joins Ryan Villopoto on Kawasaki’s factory team with both riders racing the Kawasaki KX450F.

“Chad is going to bring a lot to our team,” said Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Mike Fisher. “He has proven to be the most consistent rider this decade and his record speaks for itself. We have high expectations for both Chad and Ryan and I know they are going to do their best to meet them.”

Reed returns to a green bike after having ridden for the Kawasaki European Factory Team in 2001 where he won the Dutch Grand Prix. In the eight years since, the 27-year-old rider has amassed an impressive resume including an AMA Supercross Lites East Coast crown (2002), two AMA Supercross titles (2004, ’08), and most recently the 2009 AMA Motocross championship. During that time he has won 38 times in AMA Supercross competition, five overall AMA National Motocross events, and he has earned an impressive 105 AMA Supercross podium finishes.

“The Kawasaki KX450F is a great bike,” said Reed. “I have already had a chance to ride and race it. I’m really impressed.”

Reed is currently leading the Monster Energy Super X, an Australian Supercross Series championship.
