Brown Wins WORCS Championship

| October 26, 2009

KTM’s Mike Brown clinched the 2009 World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS) title at the final round of the series in Mesquite, Nevada. Brown added the newest championship to his stellar career with a consistent season of podium finishes and an early victory in the series.

“This is a tough championship to win,” said Brown. “The races are fast, the Pros are fast and strong and nobody makes it easy. We had a good plan all season and we knew it was going to take consistency. That’s what we aimed for every race and it paid off. I’ll be back next year with KTM; they’re a great team and we’ll defend this number one plate.”

Taylor Robert, who scored his first-ever Pro 1 victory with a stellar display, won the WORCS finale. Second went to Bobby Garrison, marking his best finish of 2009 while third fell to Nick Brozovich – also a career best and his first WORCS podium.

Brown came to the WORCS finale with a strong points lead with only Ricky Dietrich having a chance to overtake him. Dietrich would have to win the race and Brown finish no better then fifth for Dietrich to take the title. When the gate dropped, Brown got a mid-pack start and Dietrich was in the back, and then fell in the first turn. Still Dietrich battled back to the top five where he and Brown swapped paint for a few laps before Brown pulled away. Dietrich fell back out of the top five while Brown set the cruise control and took fifth and his first WORCS Championship.
