Grant Out For Motocross Season

The following is from Josh Grant’s publicist…The ankle injuries sustained by JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha’s Josh Grant during the first Super X qualifier at X Games 15 are not as severe as initially thought. Grant flew back from Los Angeles to North Carolina Monday night and visited with an orthopedic surgeon known to NFL Hall of Fame football coach Joe Gibbs as an outstanding ankle specialist amongst NFL teams. Accompanied by his mother, Joe and Coy Gibbs, and his tuner, Alex Ewing, Grant spent several hours with the doctor Tuesday and was told the better than expected news. Further tests were performed Wednesday and again today to be certain that every consideration was included. The prognosis is that Grant requires no surgery, will be riding in approximately six-to-eight weeks, and will be thoroughly prepared for the 2010 AMA Supercross Series opener on January 9 in Anaheim, Calif.”We are encouraged by the diagnosis,” said team owner Coy Gibbs. “The preliminary information we received in Los Angeles had us feeling that Josh’s injuries were more severe and while it may not seem like it, a six-to-eight week recovery is actually good news since Josh will be 100% for Anaheim. Josh is a tough competitor and he was having a great rookie season, we are proud of what he has accomplished this year and are looking forward to 2010.”Grant, a rookie in the premier division who is currently second in series points will most likely miss the last four races of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. The JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha team will seek to field a replacement rider for those events. “We are evaluating substitute riders to join Cody Cooper on our team for the remaining races,” said JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha team manager Jeremy Albrecht. “We are a sponsor driven team so we always try to have two entries in every event to represent our partners. Whenever possible, we like to give a young prospect a chance to provide some exposure and establish if there might be a fit into our program at some point.”
