The following is from the Indy Mile…

The Indiana State Fair will enter its final weekend on Friday, August 21, 2009 as ABATE of Indiana presents Motorcycle Day. Among numerous displays and activities, AMA Pro Flat Track Motorcycle racing fans will be able to meet and get an autograph from one of the sport’s greatest stars- Chris Carr. Carr will sign autographs at the Lucas Oil Indy Mile display booth from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Chris Carr is a 7-time AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National champion, and 4-time winner of the Lucas Oil Indy Mile. He rode his #4 Harley to an oh-so-close victory in the 2008 Lucas Oil Indy Mile AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National over Kenny Coolbeth. Carr’s other racing achievements include holding the land speed record on a motorcycle. This mark was set in 2006 at the Bonneville Salt Flats with a two-pass run averaging 350.8 mph. His fastest run was 354 mph. Chris remains the fastest man in the world on two wheels. His record is recorded in the 2008 edition of the Guinness book of world records. Chris Carr owns his racing team and his Indy Mile winning #4 bike will also be on display at the Lucas Oil Indy Mile booth at the Indiana State Fair.

ABATE of Indiana Motorcycle Day at the Indiana State Fair will also feature a Moto GP display from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a vintage bike display from Indianapolis Southside Harley-Davidson, a people’s choice invitational bike show, a tiny tots biker experience, a motorcycle rodeo, music from the band Gypsy Harbor, an awards presentation for the bike show, and Observed Trials Stunts from Stunt Trials champion Geoff Aaron.

Two visitors will be admitted to the Indiana State Fair on Motorcycle Day for the price of one when they present an ABATE of Indiana membership card.

The Lucas Oil Indy Mile AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National will be held at the Fairgrounds just one week later on Saturday, August 29, 2009 from 2:00pm to 10:00pm. Advance sale discount tickets are now on sale at the Indiana State Fair Box Office, at any Ticketmaster location, www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
