Monster Kawasaki’s Roger Lee Hayden led the first practice session of the weekend for the Daytona SportBike class at Mazda Raceway Lagun Seca, the Kentuckian ending up as the only rider to crack the 1:29 barrier on a sunny day on the Monterey Peninsula.Hayden’s 1:28.932 bettered the 1:29.037 turned in by championship points leader Martin Cardenas, the Colombian ending up just a fraction better than Erion Honda’s Jake Zemke.
