Hot Shoe Dirt Track Changes

Press Release | June 24, 2009

The following is from AMA Pro Racing…

In an effort to streamline the class structure and improve the quality of the racing product, AMA Pro Racing announced today that the Pro Twins and Expert Twins classes will be combined at all AMA Pro Flat Track National Hot Shoe Half Mile events beginning with the Frederick, Md. event to be held on Saturday, July 4th. Three classes will compete for their share of the $10,000.00 purse; Twins, Expert Singles and Pro Singles.

The Twins class will run according to the Expert Twins Class Technical Standards in the 2009 AMA Pro Flat Track rule book.

The guaranteed purse of $1860 for the previous Pro Twins class has now been applied to the Pro Singles class, which originally saw 100% payback of entry fees. This increase in purse will be a great added benefit for the riders, and increased rider participation will improve the quality of show for the racing fans.

“Moving our Pro Twins purse to the Pro Singles, while allowing our Pro Twins riders to compete against the Experts for a larger purse, will accomplish several of our goals for the National Hot Shoe Series this year,” says Mike Kidd, Director of AMA Pro Flat Track. “The cost to build and maintain a competitive twin is expensive. Larger purses and more track time to gain experience were what our Pro Twins riders were asking for, now they have it. I believe the fans will get into the action, cheering for the young riders competing against the experts.”

The 2009 AMA Pro Flat Track National Hot Shoe Series consists of nine events across the country with riders competing in Short Track, TT and Half Mile races.
