Alessi Racing at Thunder Valley

Mike Alessi was a surprise entry today at Thunder Valley Raceway for round five of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Lakewood, Colorado. After suffering a broken kneecap a day after the Texas round, it was expected that the Makita Suzuki rider would not be able to return until after the Red Bud round, but Alessi went into aggressive rehab immediately after his surgery and obviously felt with his standings in the series that the extra points he could gain in Colorado were worth the risk.“I just want to go out and not re-injure myself or not do anything worse to myself,” said Alessi. “There is not really any anticipation to do well, just go out and see how we feel. If I can get through the next two rounds to the break after Red Bud, that would be huge. It’s really all about getting through the next four motos healthy enough to get some points and still be in this fight. After Red Bud we get two weeks off and that’s going to give me some time to get healed up and get some strength. Hopefully, when we get to Millville I will be right back where I need to be with my strength and endurance. My body should be good again by the time we get to that point, so it is now just all about getting through these two races with some points.”
